Great Indian Travel Bazaar 2012 – Set to Drive Indian Tourism!

Loaded with a wide range of tourist delights willing to becharm vacationers, India scores big time as a hot holiday destination! And to celebrate and promote this very facet of this magnificent country, Great Indian Travel Bazaar 2012 (GITB) kicked off on Sunday!

GITB is an “international tourism mart” that works to promote India as a world-class tourism destination and offers a platform for different market segments to come together and air their views.

Subodh Kant Sahai, Minister of Tourism, Government of India was among the various dignitaries and guests who graced the inaugural day of the event. The Indian minister emphasised on the growth of the tourism in the country and advocated the need for making tour and travel sector a priority.

A traditional holiday destination, India is now being offered support by the authorities to mushroom it as one of the world’s finest destinations for vacationers.

Mr Sahai also spoke about the need to improve the hospitality infrastructure. He said the country has massive requirements for hotel rooms in order to serve tourists who take flights to India. It must be noticed that India is already witnessing big investments in the hotel sector with many local and international players realising the country’s tourism potential.

GITB is being held in Jaipur, Rajasthan - a top spot for holiday makers and one of the big factors that drive the demand for cheap flight tickets to India.

GITB is organised by the Department of Tourism, Government of Rajasthan, the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India and FICCI (Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry).
