InterContinental Hotels to Set up New Properties in India


Holiday makers who are contemplating to book flights tickets and hotel packages for India vacations will now have a reason to rejoice as a major hospitality firm InterContinental Hotels has revealed its plan to open 47 new properties by the end of 2017 and taking its room strength to over 12,000.

The company currently has 13 properties in nine cities across India, including Delhi, Benguluru, Jaipur Mumbai, Pune, Kochi and Ahmedabad, with a total of 2,334 rooms.

It has immediate plans to establish five new hotels in 2013 and 8 in 2014.

With a set-up across different brands - 25 under Holiday Inn brand; 15 under Holiday Inn Express; 6 under Crowne Plaza and 1 by InterContinental, the group has plans to cater to all kinds of guests, including premium travellers and budget holidaymakers grabbing relatively cheap deals on flights tickets. 

New pads would be coming up in several parts of India. Properties will be established in major cities like Delhi and Mumbai, popular gateways for foreigners buying tickets on international flights to the country. Also, at different business hubs like Hyderabad and Ahmedabad, lodgings will be set up to catch the fancy of business travellers booking tickets deals on India bound flights. A property in Gurgaon and Chennai will also be opened, offering options to travellers who make tickets reservations for flights landing around these destinations.
