India, the top holiday destination that attracts millions of travellers each year, seems to have become the latest love of hospitality firms around the world. With each passing day, a domestic or international hotel company is heard announcing the big launch or expansion in the Indian market!
Billed as one of the biggest economies in the world, India falls short in terms of quality hotel rooms. With millions to serve and only few hundred thousands of rooms, it surely takes no genius to figure out the potential of hotel industry in the country.
Worldhotels has joined the chorus and has announced its plans to develop 10 hotels in India by 2013, bringing smiles on faces of travellers taking flights to India.
As of now, Worldhotels offers services to 10 hotels in India. These include two Claridges hotels in Delhi and NCR, the Sahara Star in Mumbai and Aamby Valley in Pune. Out of these hotels, 4-5 are branded and the rest are affiliations, with a 50:50 blend of five star and four star properties.
The company clarified that it will “like to maintain this mix.”
While not many budget foreign travellers, who prefer cheap flights to India, will sit up and take notice of the announcement, the news will surely grab attention of luxury seekers.
India’s current contribution to Worldhotels’ global sales is 2% and is expected to rise to 5% to by 2014. The firm hopes to cater to business and leisure travellers, conference organisers, corporate tour managers and travel agents.
